  • Alfa Matrix lands on on streaming service Yandex in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Turkey
While many labels are struggling whether or not to go on Spotify, other labels move on into the territory and explore further partnerships. The Belgian label Alfa Matrix for instance has announced today that the majority of its label catalogue is now available for streaming via Yandex, the russian Google annex Spotify. The label’s material is available as part of a paid mobile subscription service next to the free web-based streaming service from Yandex.
If you live in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or Turkey you can now stream the label’s music just like others can do in Europe and the USA do on Spotify, Deezer, etc..

So far the Yandex service is attracting a (growing) monthly audience of over 4 million users. As we reported back in September 2012, for many of the labels that are now present on this service, it’s their official return to a market they abandoned a few years ago due to the enormous unsanctioned piracy problem.
