Suppression Suspension & Separation

I have heard of Suppression Suspension & Separation which basically you can use when you are ill or in pain to heal the body
Suppression Means suppression of the pain ,Suspension Being a state that your body can drop in to which is like a deep sleep
where you heart just beats enough to keep you alive and the final state is Separation where you can stand outside your body
where your soul separates from the body.
My question is how would you achieve the above? Once upon a time people used to be able to do this and healed what was wrong with them.
